If I have $250,000 US and want to come over and be with my thai wife full time, has anyone got any advice on how I can earn 10 percent consistently on my nest egg so that I can retire now, not 5 or 10 years from now

Talk to a reputable Finance adviser, There are many Fund managers out there, some genuine, same Fraudulent. Many are providing good returns in excess of 10%. Do a search online for "High returns on Investment"...there are plenty of choices...ie...www.irishpermanentinttl.com who have Bonds available..ie 2 year Bond providing 10.78 %PA return up to a 5 year Bond returning 29.15% PA return.
Up to you or your adviser to make the right choice. As you know, Thailand is a cheap place to retire to, and I suggest you do a budget to estimate how much you will need to live on while there....you may find that you may be prepared to accept a lower % to obtain a more secure investment option.

Hello all,

I am a young 39 year old X-patriot looking for a place (country) to retire early, I doubt I will make it to the age 60 I will have to wait in the USA. I have been to Thailand a few times and I do love it there.

I was wondering if anyone wanted to tell me about there experience, would you recommend someone such as myself, no wife no children to move to Thailand and start a new life?

Is there business opportunities there for Americans? Are we limited to the bar scene or educational system, which is what I hear most Americans do there.

I've been three times, will be back in Jan.
48, just married a gorgious thai wife (34) with the cutest twins in the world!
I think it's going to be a great place to retire to.
My plan is to visit often, turn my $250,000 canadian nest egg into $400,000 as soon as possible using safe blue chip securities, bonds, and the $150,000 tax credits I have built up.
Good luck to you on your blueprint to happiness!

Hi Anonymous!
Take a look at the Royal Thai Consulate website in your Country for details of requirements for a long term Visa (12 month). Even though you don't have any savings, your monthly Income meets the finance requirement. The retirement Visa is available to applicants over 50. You just need to provide a Medical certificate, a Police clearance Certificate, the application and any other required documents and have them notarised by a Notary Public (properly bound by the NP). I have just been through it all but you only have to do it once. I have retired to Ranong and finding life is great. Try and find a place in Thailand that suits your life style....I have travelled all over Thailand and found Ranong to be the place for me. It is quiet and off the tourism map but things are cheap here...ie you can get a 2 bedroom house to rent for 3500 Baht a month and food/drink is very reasonable. There are quite a number of lovely Genuine Thai ladies here to treat you like a Prince
