We all experience the “extra” expenses that we don’t really figure into our monthly budget. For instance the ATM bank charges; the cost of a haircut; getting your car washed; having dog groomed; cable TV; etc.. etc.. All those little things that add up to your monthly expense, without you ever noticing, until the end of the month and you’re running a little dry.

These “extra” expenses add up. They can be as much as 20% or more of your monthly out go, so you need some perspective. Of course it depends on where you live, but compare these prices WE pay in Thailand to the ones you’re NOW paying at home.

The below prices are averages we’ve taken from around Thailand. You may pay more in the high end Tourist areas. You may pay less in outlying areas!

Health Care:

Doctor’s visit 300 baht or about 8.50 dollars
Dentist; standard cleaning 600 baht or about 17.00 dollars
Private Hospital room

(Private Hospital) 1,500 to 3,500 baht or about 43 to 100 dollars

Procedures Approximately 60 to 75 % Cheaper!

Beauty:

Men’s haircut (shampoo/blowdry) 80 baht or about 2.30 dollars
Woman haircut (shampoo/blowdry) 120 baht or about 3.45 dollars
Woman shampoo/blowdry 60 baht or about 1.75 dollars

Car:

Wash (by hand, including interior,

undercarriage, engine and wheels) 140 bath or about 4.00 dollars

Mechanic 100 baht per hour or about 2.86 dollars per hour
Parts depending, but MUCH cheaper

Dog/Pets:

Dog groom 220 baht or about 6.30 dollars

(wash, blow dry, toe nails clipped, etc..)

Veterinarian 100 to 300 baht per visit
Boarding 80 baht per day or about 2.30 dollars
